Effect of Oil in the Gulf
Written by Julee Felinski
Saturday, 05 June 2010

We struggled with whether or not to share this photo, taken of a bird on the beach at East Grand Terre Island, LA on Thursday. It's hard to look at.
But we have to face where our addiction to oil has taken us—and this photo brings that home:

The disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is heartbreaking—but if an image like this can do anything, it can sear into our minds the fact that we need a real plan to get America off of oil.

Forward this to ten of your friends, and sign the petition to Congress and the White House today:

Make a call to BAN offshore oil drilling - FOREVER!
Written by Julee Felinski

Is a ban on offshore drilling worth 3 minutes of your time?

As the situation in the Gulf Coast continues to worsen, we can no longer ask IF something like this will happen again.  We have to admit that it will. in spite of the current “moratorium” on new drilling, new permits are being granted, many without environmental review:  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/24/us/24moratorium.html

We the people have to tell our President that we are demanding NO MORE OFFSHORE DRILLING – EVER!   I know it means we have to change our ways by using less fossil fuel, but we can do that.  We are smart, creative, ingenious, and most importantly, we care about what we are leaving behind for future generations.

So – you choose.
Option 1:  Drill and spill
Option 2:  No drilling, no killing

I don’t know about you – but I choose option two – I’ll walk and bike and sweat more knowing that I’m not part of the problem.

If you are with me on option 2 – take three minutes right now to call the White House comment line (202) 456-1111 (you may have to hold for a couple of minutes, but it’s worth the wait) and simply say: "NO MORE OFFSHORE DRILLING. EVER!" The line is open M-F from 9-5 EST.  Make the change, and make the call!

Together WE CAN counter the power of big dirty oil!
