Did you know that sea turtles have been around for more than 100 million years?  Now, they're struggling to survive.  Even though human actions have driven them closer to extinction, there's a lot we can do in south Florida to help pull them back from the edge.
Join Defenders in Boca Raton on Saturday, May 31st for a special Wildlife Volunteer Corps Workshop to learn more about the endangered sea turtles that nest along our beaches and what you can do to help save them.
RSVP to attend our Sea Turtle Workshop.
What:Wildlife Volunteer Corps Sea Turtle Workshop
When:Saturday, May 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where:Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex
1801 N. Ocean Boulevard
Boca Raton, FL

Each year, imperiled loggerhead, green and leatherback turtles come to our beaches to nest -- and these ancient travellers are in trouble.
We wanted to provide the information and tools our beachside supporters need to make a real difference for sea turtles in their communities.  That's why we're teaming up with a great Florida coalition called Neighbors Ensuring Sea Turtle Survival (NESTS) to host this special sea turtle workshop.
At the workshop, you will…
See real live sea turtles that are being rehabilitated at the Gumbo Limbo Center.
Learn why sea turtles behave the way they do, the threats they face, and simple, positive steps we can take to help them survive.
Get to know your neighbors and come together to protect sea turtles in your community.
Find out about volunteer opportunities to help save sea turtles on the beach and in your own neighborhood.
Have an opportunity to sign up for a special guided walk to see wild nesting sea turtles.
Space is limited and registration closes on Wednesday, May 28th, so please RSVP to reserve your spot today!
There will be an $8 registration fee (pay at the event) to cover lunch and training materials -- and all Workshop participants will receive a Defenders t-shirt while supplies last!
Or, as a special thank you to our volunteers, we’re offering a special 2-for-1 membership package.  Just contribute $15 at the event to become a member of Defenders or renew your membership, and attend the Workshop free of charge!
You’d be surprised at the impact we can have for sea turtles if we make a few simple changes and urge our neighbors to do the same.  For instance, did you know that if we can convince our communities to be more sensitive to sea turtles during nesting season, we can help solve some of the biggest threats to their survival?
Make a commitment to be part of the solution for our sea turtles.  RSVP to attend the Sea Turtle Workshop today!
We hope to see you there!
